On January 29, 2023, officers in Arizona responded to an incident where a female driver crashed into a fence.
City of Surprise Police Department officers found a green Ford Explorer with a flat tire and emitting steam from the radiator.
The suspect, who had refused further medical treatment at the scene, displayed signs of intoxication and admitted to consuming alcohol and marijuana.
When asked by the responding officer if she consented to a field sobriety test, she consented.
She struggled with balance, misunderstood instructions, and showed physical indicators of inebriation.
Following the test, the officer deemed her to be impaired and proceeded to arrest her for suspicion of DUI.
During the arrest process, the suspect resisted slipping her handcuffs and kicking an officer, escalating the situation to further charges.
Officers also found marijuana paraphernalia on her person.
After processing her at the jail, the breath test results indicated blood alcohol concentrations of 0.136% and 0.145%, substantiating the charges against her.
The female suspect was charged with DUI Slightest Degree (M1), DUI 0.8 BAC or above (M1), and Assault to provoke or injure (M3).
