There has been a wave of attacks in New York City’s subway system this week.
A Brazilian tourist was stabbed in the neck in an unprovoked attack at the Queens Plaza subway station and a bystander shot to death in a clash between rival gangs in a Bronx subway station.
New footage has also surfaced of unprovoked attack on a cellist performing at Herald Square station.
“Yesterday, I was attacked in the NYC subway. At 5:50 pm on February 14th [later corrected to the 13th], while performing at 34th St Herald Square station, a woman wearing a mustard jacket, red scarf, and gloves assaulted me by smashing the back of my head with my metal water bottle,” Iain S. Forrest wrote while sharing a video of the incident.
He added that the assault was the second attack he’d endured in less than a year in New York.
“I don’t think I can do this anymore,” he wrote. “I’m suspending subway performances indefinitely.”
According to his X account, he is an MD-PhD student focusing on genetics/precision medicine Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.
