An Florida woman was brutally assaulted by a man with a chainsaw in the seaside town of Lantana, with the assailant telling police that he was determined to “end this woman’s life”.
54-year-old Marine Geffrard was walking along Hypoluxo road on Tuesday morning when she encountered 20-year-old Juan Cabrera Jr., who was staying at the Super 8 Motel along the strip.
Geffrard, who assumed the chainsaw-armed Cabrera was a landscaper, did not know she had been specifically targeted by the man- a chilling detail discovered by Lantana Police.
“He actually made a comment that he woke up this morning, went and got something to eat. We can’t confirm or deny if he’s got any kind of mental illness or not. But he did make a comment to the investigator that he saw the lady in the area and he quote stated, ‘I’m going to end this woman’s life,'” Lantana Police Chief Sean Scheller said.
According to WPTV, doctors believe Geffrard may require amputation of her hand.
Cabrera was Booked into the Palm Beach County jail on Monday evening on charges of attempted first-degree murder, aggravated battery on a police officer, possession of cocaine and possession of marijuana. He was denied bond by a Palm Beach County Judge on Wednesday morning.
