A woman with a figure many men would gawk at is complaining that life is hard, especially when it comes to finding a dress.
Brazilian model Victoria Matos is known for a figure that is reminiscent of Street Fighter’s Chun Li, but she didn’t get that way by doing squats and kicks.
Matos was born with lipedema, a condition that results in a buildup of fat and connective tissue in the legs, hips, and buttocks.
While the condition certainly does her favors in the modeling industry, it does make getting outfits that well, fit, a challenge.
“Lipedema affects the way my body distributes itself, resulting in disproportionate fat accumulation in the legs and hips. This means that even if I lose weight, my legs remain with significant volume” she told the Daily Star. “Unfortunately, the fashion industry seems to ignore people like me. Few brands really consider the needs of lipedema sufferers.”
As a result, the 26-year-old is determined to create a clothing line for people who suffer from the same condition.
“I am committed to being a voice for those who also struggle with lipedema. Fashion should be for everyone, not just a stereotypical standard. Let’s push for change and make fashion truly inclusive,” she said.
