A member of the Supreme Court Honor Guard collapsed during a live broadcast on Monday morning while guarding the casket of former Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor.
The guard was seen collapsing while standing near O’Connor’s casket in the court’s Great Hall.
Another member of the honor guard quickly stepped in to fill her post as others helped the fallen guard.
O’Connor, who was the first woman to sit on the Supreme Court, died on Dec. 1 at the age of 93.
What led to the collapse of the honor guard is still unclear but people who stand in a fixed position with their knees locked have been known to collapse during ceremonies.
