Among the 253 citations issued for underage drinking during spring break in Florida was one issued to John White, a quarterback at the University of Southern Mississippi and the son of Mississippi Speaker of the House Jason White.
John White, however, apparently didn’t get the message the first time. Thirty minutes after being cited by deputies, he was caught with alcohol again, according to the Okaloosa County (Fla.) Sheriff’s Office.
The sheriff’s office said John White was issued the notice to appear about 5:45 p.m. Monday on Crystal Beach in Okaloosa County. Thirty minutes later, deputies caught him with alcohol again, this time in the pool area of the Villages of Crystal Beach.
Under Florida law, a second offense results in arrest, so John White was taken into custody and booked into the Okaloosa County Jail. He was released on his own recognizance just before noon Tuesday, according to the jail docket.
John White is a freshman at USM. At Madison-Ridgeland Academy in Madison, Miss., he set the all-time career passing yards record with 15,259 yards, along with 177 total touchdowns and a career 70.2% completion rate.
