A mother attempting to record herself using a leg press machine at the gym was interrupted by a fellow gymgoer who awkwardly asked her out for pizza has led to social media outrage.
After recording the encounter, Jess decided to post the video for her 16,000 TikTok followers to view.
“Watch me get hit on during my gym set by a married guy”, she wrote across the video with an angry emoji.
“My message to you men out there is: never interrupt someone during their set…” she added in her post caption.
Despite being irritated by the fact the unknown married man interrupted her set of leg press repetitions, she listened to what he had to say.
“So this man has approached me several times now. It started innocently (so I thought) with him complimenting me saying I look like I compete.”
“But the conversations gradually shifted and up until this point I never knew he was married.”
“I think you’re really cool, I know you have a son. I tell you straight up like I’m kind of sort of married,” he said.
“Well not kind of sorta, I am.”
“Yeah? That’s great”, she replied.
He then nervously asked her if she would like to “casually” have pizza sometime.
“I’m pretty sure your wife would not approve of that but I’m glad you’re upfront. Especially since you’re married, it’s like absolutely not,” she added.
Possibly unhappy in his marriage or just nervous about the stigma associated with men having platonic relationships with other women, he attempted to explain himself.
“I won’t say unfortunately because you know being married is good but sometimes you need somebody that you have a connection with. My connection would be your connection.”
She went on to say she has no interest in socially engaging with him because he is married but then went to her followers to publicly humiliate him for seemingly just trying to make a friend while being honest about being married.
Despite the fact he never made any romantic or sexual advances, Jess ultimately decided she wanted to want to make his identity public.
In a follow-up video, in which she wrote, “find his wife,” she explained to her followers that she noticed his face is visible in her video.
“Turns out he is in a full frame of my video,” she said.
She explained that she originally edited him out but decided it was a “good idea to show him” so his wife could know if she comes across her TikTok.
Her decision seems to be more likely motivated by her want to generate views and followers on TikTok than informing the man’s wife of a possible attempt to cheat on her.
His wife also attends the same gym, something he mentioned in the video, and would not have been hard to find outside social media.
But her request didn’t take long; internet sleuths quickly identified the man and his wife.
“Bill and Georgeta (last name removed). Georgeta is on Facebook,” the top comment on her video says.
The other comments jumped to the conclusion that “physical looks” motivated this encounter despite the man stating he was looking for a “connection.”
“I looked her up too and she is so pretty!! His wife is so out if his league! His audacity is unbelievable!!” a user wrote.
“The fact that he even thought he had a chance screams narcissist, I hope she sees this!” another wrote.
Jess even went on to defend her gym attire at the gym, as if it was the only reason the man approached her, stating that many other women wear tight-fitting clothing and don’t get hit on.
The encounter poses the question: if the genders were reversed, would the outrage be the same?
