A former Nickelodeon star who rose to fame at the age of 12 says she spent years being repressed sexually.
Madisyn Shipman, 20, who starred as Kenzie Bell in the Nickelodeon show “Game Shakers” from 2015 to 2019 has now joined Playboy’s adult platform.
“It’s such an honor to be part of Playboy,” she told Fox News. “You meet so many like-minded people, which is so rewarding. We were in the Bahamas for four days and every morning, all the girls would wake up together, head straight to the beach, and then shoot photos. It was really a magical time.”
“I’m going to be completely honest with you,” she added. “I have always felt a sense of repression in terms of my sexuality and showing my body. And I think a lot of that is because I grew up on a Nickelodeon show. You’re taught that you can’t wear crop tops… you can’t show too much skin. You’ve got to be presented as a little girl constantly. And whenever that ends… I had a little bit of an identity crisis because I didn’t know who I was.”
While she was excited to get involved with Playboy’s online venture, the 20-year-old admits she wasn’t prepared for her fan’s requests.
“There are definitely some odd requests,” she said. “I mean, no shame to anyone involved, but I was never exposed to the fetish world, so that was a shock to my system.”
Shipman says she only complies with the requests she is comfortable with but says she respects the fetishes people like.
For the most part, her fans just want to connect with the young girl they grew up watching on television.
“But a lot of people on my Playboy platform are just seeking a connection with me,” she claimed. “They have so many opinions of who I am as a person because they grew up watching me on TV… Most of my requests are pretty tame. Many folks just want to hear about my day… Many of them just want to have a conversation.”
When asked if her former castmates at Nickelodeon knew she was doing adult work she said “they kind of expected it” because she was always getting in trouble for trying to show off her body as a child.
“I was always pushing the boundaries back then,” said Shipman. “I would always get in trouble for posing in a crop top or wearing a bikini that was showing a little too much… So I think they expected it… But they fully support me.”
Shipman says her earnings from adult work are helping to fund her musical aspirations.
I’m also investing in myself. I’m able to fully self-fund my music career. Before, I was having to tap into my savings from Nickelodeon.”
