The Nevada Wolfpack is one of many college football teams with unique items for players to celebrate with after causing a turnover. For Nevada, that item is a ‘turnover trident.’ Yes, a metal trident. Apparently, that trident was left alone and a Texas State band member took it and threw it at the Nevada team.
According to Bleacher Report, a video shows a Texas State band member being escorted away by police while the team was still playing Nevada.
A person familiar with the situation says that the band member did not throw the trident at a Nevada football player but instead picked it up and gave it to the student section—the equivalent of petty theft.
Nevada has used the trident since 2022 after Battleship Nevada Remembrance Project Director John Galloway presented it to the team.
Texas State went on to win the game 35-24 to improve to 3-1.
