Young American tourists were given a telling off by Metropolitan Police in London after they were disrespectful to one of the King’s Guards.
The young women were filmed by an individual named Kallum in Central London, acting foolishly in front of one of the Guardsmen.
While dressed in ceremonial attire and standing still for hours at a time, the King’s Guards perform an important protective function.
The young American ladies were quickly corrected by an Armed Officer of the Metropolitan Police.
“These soldiers serve their country, they take their job seriously, they are responsible for protecting this facility, they are not an object of ridicule,” the officer said.
Kallum told the Daily Mail that the officer “responded very well and was very direct on what he thought of them and asked them to leave straight away.”
The video was an example of poor ambassadorship by US tourists.
The American equivalent of this level of disrespect would be akin to behaving foolishly in front of US Marines guarding the White House or the Old Guard in front of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
In such cases, countless videos show unruly tourists being dealt with through a forceful and loud response by guards
