There was a lot of love to go around in the City of Brotherly Love this week.

As the ball game between the Fightin’ Phillies and San Diego Padres was still going on, thousands of fans, and one lucky lady, got the surprise of a lifetime.

Officer Jesse Hartnett proposed after throwing the first pitch at the Phillies home opener on Monday, at Citizens Bank Park.

Hartnett is somewhat of a local hero. The Philadelphia police officer was ambushed while sitting in his marked cruiser earlier this year. He was shot three times in the arm, by a man who pledged allegiance to ISIS, Fox 29 reported.

So, it’s no surprise he got a huge reception from the crowd at the ballpark this week when he showed up on the pitcher’s mound. What came next, however, was a surprise for everyone.

The crowd went wild as Hartnett pulled a small box out of the sling around his wounded arm, dropped down to his knee and popped the question to his girlfriend.

Judging from the huge smile on her face, the big hug and smooch that followed, her answer was ‘yes’.
