A woman’s “inappropriate behavior” caused New York City to shut down the public sculpture that features a livestream with Dublin, Ireland less than a week after it debuted.
“The Portals” are sculptures that feature a non-stop video link between the cities, allowing pedestrians to interact with each other without sound.
A temporary shut-down of the display was initiated after a woman -identified as adult content creator Ava Louise, flashed her breasts in front of the portal in NYC.
“In New York, we have had a set of protocols in place since the Portal’s launch, including 24/7 on-site security and barriers to prevent people from stepping onto the Portal,” said a statement from Flatiron NoMad Partnership, one of the project’s organizers in New York.
Since the current protocols failed to stop Louise and others from inappropriate behavior, the creators and their partners in Dublin and NYC are working on “additional solutions to limit such behavior appearing on the livestream.”
The New York Portal was turned off at 5 p.m. local time Tuesday and will remain shut down for at least a few days.
Louise, 25, says she disagrees with the decision.
“I thought the people of Dublin deserved to see my New York homegrown potatos,” she said.
“A lot of people are mad at me, but a lot of people think I personally saved NYC from the debauchery of the Irish people and thank me for it. I’m a hero,” she added.
She claims her stunt was in retaliation for Irish pedestrians displaying a photo of the World Trade Center on fire before its collapse on 9/11.
“Well, Dublin showed NYC the twin towers, so it was only fair I showed them my twin towers to save our city from harassment,” the New Jersey native said.
However, she did admit the stunt increased the revenue from her paid subscribers of her adult content by thousands.
“I’ve gotten thousands, and made a lot of money because everyone wants to see what Dublin saw,” she admitted.
Barricades have been put in place around the Portal following Louise’s stunt.
