An Uber driver in Florida is sharing footage from an April 17 attack- when he was scratched, bitten and strangled by a deranged passenger.
Michael Hassey Jr., was responding to a pickup request outside of Cask Social Kitchen in Tampa when he encountered 55-year-old Michele Stilwell.
While Stilwell slept for most of the ride, she became irate once she was a few blocks from her home.
“She started screaming curse words at me and slapped me in the face,” Hassey said. “She sinks into my neck like a pitbull, shaking her head and stuff.”
According to WFLA, the woman was screaming about her “daughter.”
Despite being injured, Hassey refused to defend himself.
“I let it happen. I didn’t put my hands back on her because I have two sisters and I was raised to never put my hands on a female,” Hassey said.
An Uber spokesperson said, “What’s been described is disturbing. Violence of any kind is not tolerated on the Uber app, and we immediately removed the rider’s access as soon as this was reported to us.”
For Hassey, he’s disappointed because Uber has refused to get back to him when he submitted a complaint.
“My biggest takeaway is I would stay away from Uber,” said Hassey.
Stilwell was arrested and booked on two felony charges of aggravated battery and tampering with a witness. She has since been released on bond.
