A Turkish woman married to a national soccer star is being accused of a $1.2 million plot to kill him.
Yagmur Asik, wife of ex-Turkey international team star Emre Asik since 2012, reportedly plotted to kill her husband following her affair with another man.
Yagmur’s lover, Erdi Sungur, claims she initially tried to get him to commit the killing, but ultimately turned to an assassin.
“I had an affair with Yagmur,” Sungur told prosecutors. “She was only thinking of inheriting the fortune after Emre Asık’s death. She asked me to kill him, but I refused. Once she brought me a piece of meat. She wanted me to shoot the meat. I did attempt to shoot, but I squinted. ‘You can’t do it,’ she yelled angrily.”
According to the New York Post, the contract killer was the one who spilled the beans, telling the woman’s husband -and father of her three children- everything.
Yagmur and Sungur have since been arrested and are awaiting trial.
