Former “American Idol” winner Laine Hardy said Thursday that a warrant has been issued for him by the Louisiana State University Police Department.
The 21-year-old made the announcement in a post to his Facebook page, and said the warrant was issued “due to allegations made against me.”
Hardy did not elaborate on what the allegations were or the nature of the investigation, but he did write that he was cooperating with police.
“I understand that my career has thrust me into the public spotlight, and I embrace that wholeheartedly as my entire world belongs to my music and my fans,” he wrote. “However, due to the sensitive nature of this allegation, I humbly ask for privacy at this time. I have the utmost respect for the law, and will assist in their investigation as needed moving forward.”
The country singer was the 2019 “American Idol” winner.
According to multiple reports, LSU confirmed that there was an active investigation involving Hardy, but would not provide further information regarding the case.
