Welcome back to the Matrix.
The action-packed trailer for the upcoming “The Matrix Resurrections” was released Thursday, bringing back together the fan-favorite characters of Neo, played by Keanu Reeves, and Trinity, portrayed by Carrie-Anne Moss.
The new, three-minute promo begins with Reeves’ character in a therapy session, struggling to reconcile with his confusing past.
“I had dreams that weren’t just dreams,” he tells the therapist, played by Neil Patrick Harris. “Am I crazy?”
As the trailer progresses, he pours out of a bottle of blue pills, and accepts a red one to uncover the truth about his warped world.
The movie is the fourth in the “Matrix” series, and promises a story in which reality is more subjective than ever before.
Written and directed by Lana Wachowski, the new sequel stars Jada Pinkett-Smith, Johnathan Groff and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as well.
Warner Bros. Pictures also introduced a new interactive website to help preview the film, which fans can visit at www.WhatIsTheMatrix.com.
“The Matrix Resurrections” hits theaters and HBO Max on Dec. 22.
