A Columbian Instagram influencer is currently on trial in Columbia, accused of using her good looks to distract prison guards so her mother can escape.
According to Vice News, 21-year-old Aida Manzanero kept the guard preoccupied as her mother, a former senator, climb out of a third-story window and disappear on a motorcycle.
The escape happened back in 2019, but Manzanero was officially arrested earlier this year and now her trial is underway.
Aida’s mother is accused of election crimes in relation to her 2019 victory. Those crimes include voter fraud, corruption, and possession of weapons.
She was sentenced to 15 years, but two weeks after being convicted she broke out.
Aida Victoria, the name she uses on social media, cashed in on the escape by posing nude for a magazine and built a social media following as the daughter of an escaped and convicted congressman.
Aida’s mother was eventually caught a few months later.
Aida Victoria faces 21 years in prison if she is convicted.
