Men worried about losing their hair should look no further than their fingers, researchers from Taiwan believe.
The issue of male pattern baldness may correlate with the length of one’s index finger versus that of their ring finger, at least according to studies carried out at Kaohsiung Medical University.
In a study of almost 250 men over the age of 37, researchers found that those with a longer ring finger than index on their right hand were far more likely to go glossy up top.
“Our study found that the lower the right-hand second digit to fourth digit ratio, the greater the risk of developing alopecia,” said Dr Ching-Ying Wu.
According to the Daily Mail, despite being relatively common, hair loss can have serious impacts on a man’s attractiveness and mental health.
In fact, a 2015 survey for the UK-based Brandwood Clinic shows that one-third of men with hair loss reported feeling depressed as a result, and a startling 20% of those surveyed had even considered taking their own lives.
