After a long and contentious divorce battle between herself and actor Johnny Depp, it appears things have turned on Amber Heard when it comes to the billion-dollar Aquaman franchise.
Depp and Heard were married for roughly 15 months, but during the divorce Heard labeled her ex-husband an abuser and other accusations that may or may not have been true.
In the middle of the divorce, which was filed in the U.K., Depp even asked Warner Brothers Studios to remove Heard from her role as Mera. That failed and she went on to have great success in it.
Now it appears the tables have turned after a petition to have Heard fired for reportedly ‘false accusations’ against Depp reached a million signatures.
According to Yahoo News, Heard has been released from her contract and the studio is looking for a replacement, possibly in former Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke. Clarke and led star Jason Momoa played a married couple in the first season of the hit HBO series.
The report cites Heard not being in shape for the role and the studio exercising its clause in her contract to fire her for that reason.
The studio has not confirmed the firing, though Aquaman 2 is scheduled to begin shooting this year. It’s set to hit theatres in December 2022.
