A private jet went down over Guatemala, killing a member of the crew and exposing a shocking revelation- the plane was being used to mule drugs.
The Guatemalan military noted the aircraft illegally entered national airspace early Saturday morning before crashing at Sierra del Lacandón National Park.
Upon arrival, rescue crews noted that the co-pilot was dead but also discovered that the plane was hiding another secret- the aircraft was loaded with guns and drugs.
Over $16m in cocaine was found at the crash site, including some wrapped in Boston Red Sox-themed packaging.
Other items included a rusted and badly-maintained AR-pattern rifle, sporting Magpul accessories and lacking a muzzle device.
According to the Daily Mail, the pilot and two other passengers were arrested.
The Guatemalan military did not specify the plane’s country of origin.
