Raccoons on a drunken bender in West Virginia scared local residents half to death after they were found staggering around as if they had rabies.
The boozy critters caused quite a calamity for the Milton Police, who took two of the masked bandits into custody.
One rookie patrolman made a raccoon the first arrest of his career.
“Patrolman Scarberry made his first apprehension today, taking this masked bandit into custody with assistance of Sgt Collins and several neighborhood residents,” MPD wrote on Facebook. “We have had calls on suspected rabid raccoons twice over the last two days. Turns out they appear to be drunk on crabapples.”
According to the agency, “both coons were released near the woods unharmed.”
Milton Police have asked the public to avoid taking chances if they see a staggering and disoriented raccoon, and asked any sightings to be followed up with a call to the authorities.
