Punches were thrown at Martinsville Speedway on Saturday.
Andrew Grady whaled on Davey Callihan after he said the driver flipped him off.
“So, I started Mike Tysoning his head,” Grady said. “At the end of the day, we were really really good. The car was really fast, but you get these dumbasses that come in here and run with us. They have no business running a late model, much less a lawnmower.”
The two drivers were competing in the ValleyStar Credit Union 300, which is a major Late Model Stock racing event. There were four 25-lap qualifying heats to determine who would make the 40-car field for the race. The top 10 finishers in each heat would qualify for the race.
“When you wreck a man, you can take a grown man ass-whoopin’,” Grady said.
Callihan defended himself in an interview, saying you can’t give an inch at a transfer spot.
“Just hard racing. I do apologize to the one, but we’re fighting for our life out there. So just did what I had to do,” Callihan said.
