Los Angeles (dpa) – Retired boxing superstar Floyd Mayweather announced on Sunday he will fight Logan Paul, a popular social media personality who has never won a professional fight.
The two will compete in a “Special Exhibition” match on February 20 next year, Mayweather said on Instagram.
Paul confirmed the fight on Twitter, saying “it’s official.”
The 43-year-old former world champion has won 50 fights and remains undefeated according to the event description, while Paul, 25, has fought once professionally, losing to fellow YouTuber KSI in November 2019.
Mayweather competed in just one exhibition bout at the end of December 2018 in Japan since defeating then-UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor by technical knockout in Las Vegas in August 2017.
Paul, who has more than 22 million subscribers on YouTube, has been taunting Mayweather online and allegedly trying to set up the fight for months.
