Guess getting to a man’s heart isn’t always through his stomach.
A man in India divorced his wife because she made the same instant noodles for him every meal, every day.
The Independent reports how the case was handled by ML Raghunath, a district and sessions court judge based in the country who was dishing some of his more interesting divorces to The New Indian Express last week during a press conference.
“The husband said his wife did not know how to prepare any other food than Maggi noodles,” tells Raghunath to the Express. “It was noodles for breakfast, lunch and dinner. He complained that his wife went to the provision store and brought only instant noodles.”
Yahoo! News continues to report how the couple eventually parted ways under mutual consent, which requires both parties to live separately for one year before agreeing to dissolve the marriage under India’s Special Marriage Act of 1954.
“Divorce cases are increasing drastically over the years,” adds Raghunath. “Couples have to stay together for at least a year before seeking divorce. If there was no such law, there would be divorce petitions filed directly from wedding halls.”
Other reasons for divorce listed by Raghunath to the Express involved one spouse putting salt on the wrong side of the plate; stitching a wedding suit the wrong color; and for not taking the wife out enough.
