This mama bear hopefully was treated to breakfast in cave after rescuing her cubs that were separated from her.
According to the South Lake Tahoe (California) Fire Fighters Association, firefighters set off after receiving a call about the distressed cubs. However, by the time they arrived, ursa mama had already began her own rescue operation.
“The mother bear was determined to save all three of her cubs herself and ensure that they see tomorrow by continually swimming each one to safety,” the association wrote on Facebook.
In the video, the mother bear swims over to a stranded cub and cajoles it into jumping onto her back while see swims back to the opposite end of a marina and the pair can get out of the water and scamper off into the woods.
People who commented on the video on the association’s Facebook post were also impressed by the mama bear’s bravery.
“Amazing! I don’t think a lot of people realize how intelligent these creatures of beauty are,” one person wrote.
“Mother bear: ‘I told you to wait 30 minutes!’” another user joked about the swimming salmon-lovers.
