“Jersey Shore” star Ronnie Ortiz-Magro was arrested Thursday for investigation of felony domestic violence, police in Los Angeles have confirmed to the Associated Press. In the above video, Ortiz-Magro earlier faced a felony kidnapping charge involving his girlfriend Jen Harley.
Ortiz-Magro, 35, was arrested in the coastal Playa del Rey section of Los Angeles, LAPD Officer William Cooper told the AP. The news was first reported by TMZ.
The reality television star was arrested on suspicion of violating a California law covering violence against intimate partners. No details were released about the circumstances of the events that led to the arrest.
Ortiz-Magro’s attorneys, Scott E. Leemon and Leonard Levine, told the AP that they had just learned of the new allegation and need time to investigate before they can comment.
In May, Ortiz-Magro pleaded no contest to one count of domestic battery and one count of resisting arrest that stemmed from an October 2019 incident in the Hollywood Hills section of Los Angeles when police were called to a home where he, his now ex-girlfriend Jen Harley and their then 20-month old child were staying.
He avoided jail but he did get 36 months of probation; 30 days of community labor in his home state of Nevada; a 52-week domestic violence program, also in Nevada; and a fine.
Ortiz-Magro starred in MTV’s original “Jersey Shore” from 2009 to 2012; and most recently on its sequel series, “Jersey Shore: Family Vacation.”
