An Irish actor was arrested in Malibu after it was revealed he was driving under the influence at the time of a car accident.
43-year-old Jonathan Rhys Meyers, who is known for playing Elvis in the 2005 movie of the same name, was approached by police in the California city after a minor incident resulting in damage to his vehicle.
Meyers was unable to perform the Standardized Field Sobriety Test, and was taken into custody on misdemeanor DUI charges.
According to Yahoo! Entertainment, he has since been released from custody.
Meyers has struggled with alcohol for much of his adult life, and has been in and out of jail all over the world due to alcohol-related offenses.
The vehicle incident took place on Sunday at around 5 PM.
Meyers’ wife, Mara Lane, has been supportive of him but has previously been the subject of abuse by her husband. Despite this, she has been adamant about Meyers overcoming his alcohol addiction.
