Singer Cardi B says she’s still mad at an ex-boyfriend who stole $20,000 she earned while working as a stripper.
She remembers going to count her stash of money and realizing that there was only $1,000 left
“When I was 20 years old … I used to say this so much: ‘I’m 20 years old, and I have $20,000.’ And that used to hype me up ’cause I worked hard for it,” the 29-year-old said on Angela Yee’s “Lip Service” podcast Tuesday.
“Like, I f–kin’ shaked [sic] my ass real hard for it,” she complained.
She says her ex-boyfriend ghosted her after raiding her stash.
“This n—a took my f–king money,” she told Yee. “He took my money and did not answer the phone for the whole day.
When she finally got a hold of him, he claimed he was using the money to buy weed to sell in California.
“I was going insane, and then he was like, ‘Yeah, I took the money because I am in California getting [weed to sell].”
Cardi B said the incident left her “traumatized” and made her decide to stop dating “broke boys.”
She told Yee she did get back some of the money but the incident still bothers her to this day.
“This n—a gave me back like $4,000, talking about the weed…like, that traumatized me. I can’t. See, I am getting shaky [now].”
