A man in India accidentally shot and killed his friend during a ceremonial tradition at his wedding.
Footage of the incident shows the groom, Manish Madheshia, being handed a pistol in front of the entire wedding in the Uttar Pradesh region of Northern India.
While lifting the gun in the air and attempting to fire it in the air. After dropping his arm and inspecting the pistol, he accidentally fired the pistol at his friend who serves in the army.
“A person who’s serving in the army, identified as Babu Lal Yadav, died after being shot during the celebratory firing by the groom” Pratap Singh, police superintendent of the Sonbhadra Amrendra, told NDTV.
Yadav had received special permission from the army to travel across the county to his friend’s wedding.
In the footage, Yadav can be seen wearing a white T-shirt and falling to the ground as he’s struck by a bullet.

He was rushed to a hospital but died from his injuries before arriving.
According to the NYPost, Madheshia has since been arrested and charged with Yadav’s death.
