A group of demonstrators were seen doing push-ups and squats in front of a Florida courthouse Monday in an act of protest to the continued closure of gyms.
Clearwater protesters worked out in front of a Pinellas County courthouse showing their need to workout in a gym, and held signs with one featuring the phrase “give me chains or give me death,” according to a report by WTVT, a FOX affiliated station serving Tampa.
Florida gyms were closed at the start of April in compliance with Gov. Ron DeSantis’ executive order to reduce the spread of COVD-19, but the opening of gyms could happen if recovery efforts excel into Phase 2.
But that’s not soon enough, according to some Floridians.
“This page is dedicated to those who believe enough is enough,” the Open Tampa Bay Facebook page said. “We must never allow our civil liberties to be encroached upon and we must allow our businesses in the Tampa Bay Area to re-open and give all lawful business owners the right to operate their businesses to provide for their communities, families, employees, and themselves.”
