A Florida man is facing charges after attempting to steal several exotic fish from a pet store- by stuffing them in his pants.
Cruz Garcia Jr., and accomplice Crystal Dixon were caught on camera earlier this month as they nabbed several exotic fish from the Clearwater-based establishment, ranging from $18-20 each.
Dixon kept the shopkeep busy while Garcia began netting and…uh, bagging the poor aquatic pets, ultimately making their escape once Garcia got his fill.
“The boyfriend came to this fish tank over here, pointed at a fish and said, ‘Oh, that’s a really cool fish,’ and then ran out the door. I immediately went to where I saw them last, and I noticed there were droplets of water coming from the tank. I knew there was missing fish,” said shopkeep Kayla Kraut.
According to WPTV, Police arrested Garcia on Friday, but they are still searching for Dixon.
Police, however, seemed the most surprised of all when the call came in.
“I think it’s the first call you ever heard were somebody stuffs live fish down their pants and flees the scene,” said Rob Show of the Clearwater Police Department.
