A German ad has warmed the hearts of millions, being labeled the “best this year” in many circles.
The DocMorris ad, which runs around two minutes in length, shows a lonesome elderly man looking at pictures when he sees his neighbor’s family unloading a Christmas tree.
A spark in his eye, the man decides to begin working out to get ready to spend time with his family, with one catch.
The commercial shows the old man lifting kettelbells, training a little harder each day.
Despite obviously having some difficulty with the training, the man persists, using a photo of his granddaughter as inspiration.
In the end, the man eventually is reunited with the little girl, and has the strength to lift her high enough to place a star atop the Christmas tree.
The advertisement ends with “So that you can take care of what really matters in life” flashing across the screen.
Since it aired, the ad has become quite popular, moving some people to tears.
The poignant commercial was created by German agency Jung von Matt as part of the Dutch-based firm’s “Take care” campaign.
Many on Twitter praised the ad, claiming it inspired them.
“Best Christmas Advertisement this Year,” wrote Thorny316.
“Such a beautiful and emotional Christmas ad,” Sanna-Karina Aab chimed in.
