A harrowing road rage incident was captured on dash cam in Florida- at least the driver’s side of it.
The event, which took place on the 417 in Orange County, when driver Marco Mazzetta drew his handgun and fired at the occupant of another vehicle.
According to Mazzetta, the occupant in the other vehicle, a Nissan 370z sports car, was tailgating him. When he “brake checked” the Nissan driver, the 370z bumped him, and the driver angrily rolled alongside Mazzetta, aiming a handgun at him.
While Mazzetta claims he acted in defense of himself and his passenger, the Florida Highway Patrol urged the public not to get involved in road rage incidents.
“You don’t know the mindset of the other driver that you might get involved in some kind of situation. A lot of people carry weapons in their cars. This could have really escalated to somebody getting shot, somebody getting killed,” Florida Highway Patrol’s Kim Montes said.
According to WESH, Mazzetta was rather candid about the incident.
“I’m not a fan of guns; I’m a fan of not getting shot,” he said via text. “I know this video doesn’t capture my smartest moments but I hope any idiot criminal with a gun watching thinks twice before loading, brandishing & aiming their firearm at someone over a traffic infraction.”
Mazzetta reported the incident to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, who are looking into the matter.
No charges have been filed.
