A woman attending a Massachusetts dog park with her pooch called the police on a man after his dog began engaging in what seemed to be sexual behavior with her dog.
Franklin Baxley was the subject of a police contact after a woman -now known as “Dog Park Debbie” from now on- called Attleboro’s 911 center to say that one of Baxley’s terriers was inappropriately humping her own dog.
“I visit this park twice a day and all the dogs get excited when a new one is here,” Baxley, a former attorney, told Yahoo Lifestyle. “When the woman came in, my dog Dusse ran over and humped hers, so I immediately removed him and apologized, explaining that he’s a puppy.”
Despite being warned, Dusse continued to show dominance, and Baxley was asked to leave. When he decided he didn’t want to go, the woman called 911.
A park employee referred to the situation as inappropriate.
You cannot allow your dog to aggressively hump another dog,” the employee said.
Finally, Attleboro Police arrived, and began combing through the dispute.
“She told me to leave the park because my dog assaulted her dog by humping him,” Baxley said to the officer while filming the encounter. “That’s where we’re at, sir.”
“I asked you to leave because your dog was humping mine and those are the rules,” the woman interjected. “I don’t know why he’s doing this.”
“I’m used to it,” the officer replied.
Baxley believes the call was racially motivated, and he insists that he will continue taking his dogs to the park.
“This woman wanted to impress upon me that she was superior,” he said. “Her first instinct was to call the police when in conflict with a black person.”
