Kelly Clarkson is breaking away from her marriage.
The “Breakaway” singer filed for divorce last week from husband Brandon Blackstock, The Blast reported and Us Weekly confirmed Thursday.
The 38-year-old “The Voice” coach and the 43-year-old talent manager married in 2013, after which Blackstock also became Clarkson’s manager.
Nearly eight months after tying the knot, the couple welcomed daughter River Rose, who turns 6 Friday, and later, 4-year-old son Remington.
The daytime talk show host is also stepmother to Blackstock’s daughter and son from a previous marriage, Savannah and Seth.
Just weeks ahead of their nuptials, Clarkson – who became engaged in December 2012 – announced, “I want babies like right off the bat! … My first child will be a girl – I know it in my soul.”
In 2018, Clarkson said her working relationship with Blackstock “comes down to respect.”
“He’s really talented at what he does and his mind really does work in a completely different way,” she told Marie Claire at the time, pointing to his success with client Blake Shelton, Clarkson’s fellow “Voice” judge. “I’m always like, ‘is this your manager hat?’ And he’ll go ‘oh, is this your artist hat? Are we going there?’ So, we’re pretty good about that. I mean, we just have the regular marriage, kids thing, to where it’s like, ‘I am not putting them to bed, you are.’”
Representatives for Clarkson did not immediately respond to request for comment.
