Jay Johnston, who voices the character of Jimmy Pesto, has been “banned” from the animated series, the Daily Beast reported, citing two sources.
A photo said to be of Johnston was taken at the riots, the Daily Beast reported.
On Jan. 6, people loyal to then-President Donald Trump stormed the Capitol, alleging that Trump actually won the 2020 election and was robbed thanks to widespread voter fraud. In reality, Trump lost by more than 7 million votes to Joe Biden.
The actor has not said if he was at the Capitol or not, and did not comment in the Daily Beast report. In 2015, Johnston appeared on a show hosted by Gavin McInnes, the founder of the far-right group the Proud Boys.
Fox, which airs “Bob’s Burgers” did not comment on the report.
Johnston, 53, was a writer and performer on “Mr. Show With Bob and David.” His other credits include 10 episodes of “Arrested Development.”
He is credited on 43 episodes of “Bob’s Burgers” as Jimmy Pesto, who runs a pizza place and is the rival of the show’s titular protagonist. According to IMDb, Johnston’s most recent appearance on the show came in an episode that aired in May 2021. He has not appeared on the current season, the show’s 12th.
