A rapper known for her music in Argentina was found dead in a suspicious hanging case.

Paula Monica Gimenez, AKA “Gemma” or “Chiny,” was found hanged by a cable in the city of Posadas.

According to the New York Post, the rapper was celebrating the holidays with family in the neighborhood.

The 21-year-old’s former lover -identified as “Franco”- claimed Gimenez threatened self-harm if he did not return to her, and had sent him photos of a noose and a knife.

Some relatives and neighbors claim Franco’s relationship with the female rapper was “toxic” and even violent.

Franco himself had left threatening messaged to Gimenez on social media.

“If I see you close again, you and your daughter will regret it,” he wrote, allegedly using fake social media accounts.

Despite the threats made, police are continuing to investigate the incident, and released Franco after bringing him in for questioning.
