Jul. 11—ALBANY — Heather Kovar has been suspended from CBS6 Albany after appearing disoriented on Saturday’s evening broadcast.
Local viewers posted to Twitter and Facebook expressing concern — though other social-media responses were less compassionate — and clips of the broadcast soon appeared online and were shared around the country.
The station released a statement Sunday evening from Robert Croteau, vice president and general manager of the Sinclair-owned station: ” Heather Kovar has been suspended pending our internal investigation. We have no further comment at this time.”

Kovar has been the weekend anchor for several years. She was working a double/split shift Saturday that required her to anchor both the morning and evening shows.
The anchor’s voice was slurred and her delivery scattered during Saturday’s 6 p.m. newscast. At one point when introducing the weather report, she referred to meteorologist Craig Gold as Craig Adams. (Adams is also a meteorologist at the station.)
Kovar was slated to anchor Saturday’s 11 p.m. newscast as well, but the station brought in the weekday evening anchor, Greg Floyd, who also filled in Sunday evening.
Prior to joining Channel 6, Kovar worked at WTEN/News10ABC.
She has been with CBS6/WRGB for more than five years. She recently took a leave of absence after the death of her father.
Kovar did not respond to a request for comment sent after the station released its statement.
