Afghanistan’s biggest female pop star was forced to flee the country as the Taliban took control from the local government, fearing for her life after a female governor was captured by Taliban forces.
Aryana Sayeed, who is known for her music in the country, managed to get aboard an American transport aircraft out of the country and land in Qatar.
“I am alive and after unforgettable nights, I have reached Doha,” she said.
As reports leak out of the country that women are being forced to marry fighters and face public torture, Sayeed -who lives abroad- still cannot believe that recent events have taken place.
“I am well and alive and after a couple of unforgettable nights, I have reached Doha, Qatar and am awaiting my eventual flight back home to Istanbul [Turkey],” she wrote on social media. “After I get home and my mind and emotions return back to normal from a world of disbelief and shock, I have many stories to share with you.”
The starlet was shocked to hear that Salima Mazari, one of the country’s first female governors, was captured.
According to the Daily Mail, Sayeed has around 1.3 million followers on Instagram and is married to her producer.
