FAIRFAX COUNTY, Virginia – It’s never a good idea to try to escape from police, but one suspect’s effort went embarrassingly wrong.
Fairfax County police say they arrested Isaac C. Bonsu, 30, of Alexandria, after he somehow managed to hit himself with his own vehicle during a chase.
Police released video of the incident on Tuesday, which occurred at 1 a.m. Sunday, insidenova.com reports.
That’s when police attempted to pull over a car for an equipment violation, but the vehicle took off instead, according to Fox News.
After about a half-mile chase, Bonsu hit a dead end and got out of the car to try and run, WJLA Channel 7 reports. However, he doesn’t put the car in park and is instead knocked over by the vehicle as it rolls forward.
“Oops. He got hit by his own car,” the police department says in a Facebook post.
Bonsu gets up and again attempts to run but is quickly caught by police. He was not injured.
Accrording to WJLA, Bonsu is facing seven charges, including a felony because it’s his third DWI offense. He’s also charged with hit-and-run, disregarding an officer’s signal to stop, driving while revoked – DWI related, driving with an open container, possession of marijuana and illegal window tint.
He already was wanted in another county for felony hit-and-run, misdemeanor hit-and-run and driving on a revoked license.
WJLA reports Bonsu has been released on bail.
