Emmy Award winning violinist gives chilling rendition of national anthem at Vikings-Colts game

Two-time Emmy Award winning violinist, Damien Escobar, performed the National Anthem in front of a United States Coast Guard flag detail at the Vikings-Colts game. Escobar has appeared on America’s Got Talent and also performed at the first inauguration of President Barack Obama in 2009.

The Vikings honored local Irondale High School student and former varsity football player, Sam Heras as U.S. Bank Hometown Hero. The Heras family were hit with hard times when Sam was a junior in high school, losing his father to cancer and his mother falling ill just shortly after. Sam quit playing football to get a job and help pay bills, then lost his mother about a year and a half later. In an effort to help Sam with bills, a co-worker started a Go Fund Me account to raise $5,000 and donors have raised more than $50,000.
