An ax-wielding maniac threatened to jump a fence and kill students playing outside a suburban Las Vegas school Tuesday, according to local reports.
Kisstal Killough tried scaling the chain-linked fence outside Williams Elementary School around noon while drunkenly brandishing the pickaxe, the Las Vegas Review Journal reported, citing police.
“She was screaming and yelling that she was gonna kill everybody,” said Eric Leavitt, the North Las Vegas Police Department spokesman.
An officer was at the school within a minute and arrested Killough, 33, as about 200 students were outside.
KVVU-TV reports Killough jumped off the fence and dropped the ax as police arrived.
She faces assault and deadly weapon charges.
In a letter to parents, the school’s principal, Kristie Cole, said students and staff saw the woman trying to “trespass on our campus.”
She thanked police for capturing the woman “before she could access the playground area,” Cole wrote.
The letter makes no mention of the pickaxe or death threats.
