Police surround bank robbery suspects; turns out to be music video shoot

A Texas rapper is showing his gratitude after police swarmed him during a music video shoot that citizens mistook for a bank robbery.

Rap artist Tru Keezy was recording a music video on Sunday, simulating a bank robbery outside of a credit union with black face masks and actual firearms.

Naturally, Lake Jackson Police were quickly dispatched to the scene. Arriving with weapons drawn, the officers assumed there was a real bank robbery in progress.

“They said, ‘Is anybody in the back?’ I said, ‘Yes.’ ‘Are there guns?’ ‘Yes, but they’re not loaded, I swear.’ ‘Get on the ground, get on the ground!,’” Keezy said.

WALB reports that the rappers were questioned on what exactly they were doing and were not hit with any bank robbery-related charges.

“With all the stuff that’s going on right now, man, we [sic] blessed not to be shot,” Keezy said.

In hindsight, Keezy admits this may not have been the smartest idea they ever concocted.

“Thank you all for not shooting me, my bros. Next time I promise we’ll let you know if we’re going to do something like that, and I commend you for standing by your badge,” Keezy said.
