A Swedish policewoman took down a thief to the ground after he interrupted her sunbathing time.
According to The Local, Mikaela Kellner and friends were sunbathing in a Stockholm when a thief pretending to sell magazines cleverly made off with her mobile phone.
“I told my friends to keep an eye on their things. But as soon as he left one of my friends said ‘where did my mobile phone go?'” Kellner told The Local on Thursday.
The criminal had used his magazines to cover the mobile phone, stealing it without anyone noticing. Realizing what had happened, Kellner sprung into action.
“There was no time, so I ran after him, maybe 15 meters or so. One of my friends is also a police officer, so we got hold of him. He tried to get away so we held onto him harder,” she said.
As she and the other officer restrained him, someone snapped a photo of the bikini-clad officer holding down the suspect.
Kellner said this is her first arrest made while wearing a bikini.
“I just acted on instinct and didn’t think about it so much until after we had pinned him down. When I sat there I looked over at our other two friends who are not police officers and realized that it probably looked pretty funny. But I would have stepped in no matter my outfit,” she said.
Kellner said that she’s gotten a lot of good attention from the incident.
“I’ve had a lot of positive comments both from friends and colleagues. It happens all the time that valuables are taken like this and often you don’t notice they’re gone until later. I mainly just wanted to raise awareness of how cunning these people are, almost like magicians.”
